Ergonomically Angled Front Design
DThe Class III Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) offers unparalleled safety levels that exceed those of Class I and Class II cabinets. Constructed from welded metal, these cabinets are designed to be gas-tight, with operations conducted through glove ports located at the front. During standard operation, a negative pressure is maintained within the cabinet, providing an additional fail-safe mechanism in the event of a containment breach. All exhaust air is HEPA-filtered and incinerated, ensuring maximum safety.
Class III cabinets are completely enclosed and ventilated, with all air entering or exiting the facility passing through a HEPA filter. Equipped with rubber gloves attached to the system, these cabinets are often referred to as ‘glove boxes’. They also feature a transfer chamber, or pass box, that allows for the sterilization of materials before they exit the cabinet.
While the gloves may limit hand movement, they effectively prevent direct contact between the operator and the samples. The exhaust air is treated with double HEPA filters or HEPA filters combined with incineration. These cabinets are suitable for all four Biosafety levels (1, 2, 3, and 4), but are particularly critical for handling biological materials at Biosafety Level 4. Typically custom-built for specific laboratory needs, these cabinets integrate lab equipment within the chamber, ensuring maximum protection for the operator, the environment, and the samples against high-risk pathogens.
Class III Biological Safety Cabinets provide the highest level of safety for personnel, products, and the environment. Their completely enclosed, leak-proof design includes a transfer chamber, also known as a pass box, to facilitate the safe transfer of materials to and from the cabinet. This model is commonly referred to as a Glove Type Biological Safety Cabinet and is extensively utilized in the pharmaceutical industry.
